Description
A nice 2 night trek through the mountains of Virginia. As you can see, we stashed cars at 2 different places -- the Dragon's Tooth trailhead and RT 779 near its intersection with RT 600. The route mostly follows the Appalachian Trail and hits Dragon's Tooth, Mcafee's Knob, and Tinker Cliffs. We camped the first night near Dragon's Tooth, and the second night was at Campbell Shelter just past Mcafee's Knob. There is also a campsite in that area. Day 1 is pretty easy, only a few miles. There is, however, no water on DT, so bring enough to get you through the night and midway through the morning. Day 2 is tough, about 12 miles and 3400ft worth of hills. Day 3 isn't so bad, only about 7.5 miles and only 1 big climb up to Tinker Cliffs. The walk is worth it if you like good views.
